Access to the Norton Center for K-12 students just got one step easier!

Kentucky public and private schools, grades pre-K through 12, may now apply for a Kentucky Arts Council TranspARTation Grant to help subsidize transportation costs when attending Norton Center student matinees.

Much of the feedback we have received from teachers interested in bringing their students to Norton Center K-12 Programs, centers around the cost of transportation.   In an effort to help alleviate these costs, the Norton Center applied to the Kentucky Arts Council for a unique grant, which we were recently awarded! The TranspARTation Grant enables Kentucky teachers and schools to offer students quality arts experiences by providing transportation funding to the individual school and classroom that applies for the grant.

Grants will be based on the mileage from the school building to the arts organization or performance venue and the number of buses necessary. Applications are reviewed quarterly and the next deadline, for spring field trip applicants, is March 1, 2013.

For help in applying for a TranspARTation Grant so that your school can receive money to pay for transportation costs when attending a Norton Center performance, contact us at 859-238-5759 or Dan Strauss, KY Arts Council Senior Program Analyst, at dan.strauss@ky.gov or 888-833-2787, ext. 474.
